Maybelline do really good foundations!

A lot of people like Dream Matte mousse but it doesn't work for certain peoples skin, like mine so try it out first as many people find it doesnt look great on their skin while others love it.

I like their new Superstay Silky foundation that lasts for 16hrs and has SPF and good coverage, it has two sides one white and one is the foundation and the white bit is like a face primer. Im pale and have it in ivory and it does last a long time and looks good!

Their mineral makeup range is very good also i love the powder foundation and have heard good things about the liquid one too!

Mineral powder foundation or mineral liquid foundation?

I use maybelline Mineral powder foundation currently, and I find it really great. But there's a liquid version of the mineral foundation, and i'm curious to which is better?
Does anyone have any idea whether liquid or powder mineral foundation is better?

I find the powder better, but it depends on your skin type. If you have oily sking, stick with the powder, but if you have dry skin, try the liquid.

You should deff. get Maybelline new york mineral power natural perfecting powder foundation, I use it, and I also tend to have oily skin as well. It stays on for a long time and & I love it! I got mine from wal-mart. I can't remember the price but it's no more then 6 dollars.

Basically, the better quality of product you want - the more money your going to have to spend, but if you pick a good brand like M.A.C, Bobbi Brown, Napolean, Urban Decay, etc. your going to get your money's worth quality-wise.

Revlon isn't the best brand, but it will do the job if you use it correctly. Firstly: if you need coverage - you need a liquid base before applying the powder.

Look for a liquid foundation, something that matches your skin tone (IMPORTANT!) check out the websites for the above listed brands and take a look at some of their products and see whats best for you.

Depending on what your trying to cover - a concealer may be a good investment also (same as above applies for concealer).

Basically your process should be.

Prime - Moisturising your skin before the application of make-up to ensure it applies smoothly, consistently and you have a nice clean fresh face. You can do this with the Primer product of your choice or just a basic moisturiser product will do just fine.

Conceal - It's totally up to you which concealer products you use. You can use liquid, matte, stick, gel - whatever works for you. There are also color correction concealers:
Yellow: removes darkness, sun damage and sun spots/freckles.
Green: removes skin redness
Pink: removes yellow undertones to the skin - gives you a radient pinkish glow.

Foundation - Like concealer, your chosen foundation type is totally up to you, theres a big range. After concealer, remember not to apply too much foundation as you should have a pretty good coverage already, this is just for finishing spots here and there and making sure your skin tone is consistent.

Powder - Powder is essentially used to set all of the make-up you've just applied, otherwise it will erode and run off the face. Don't apply too much, just a tiny layer which has been dabbed on a powder brush all over the face.

After this you should have a medium to high coverage, depending on the level of your application. Unfortunately a powder alone will not suffice. Make-up can be expensive but the rewards are well worth it.

I have a hard time matching my skin color. For years I have been a huge fan of Bare Minerals. I usually just used the mineral veil it is the perfect. I have recently found Everyday Minerals. It is JUST LIKE Bare Minerals, but it is CHEAPER. They also have more colors, and you can choose original glo, matte finish, or semi-matte, and they have special combo deals. A strong bone structure gives a face a certain presence and definition. If you have prominent cheekbones and a confident jaw line, it doesn't matter how close-set your eyes, how bulbous your nose, or how lopsided your lips, you're still going to turn heads. Yes, I developed that theory myself, but only after looking at hundreds of strong­boned beauties (many of them models) whose other features were average, asymmetrical, or unusual. I, unfortunately, wasn't blessed with prominent bones. I rely on blush to draw attention to my cheeks. If you must do the same, keep reading.

Cheeky color

I have sallow skin, which is one reason I like cheek color: it makes your skin look vibrant. But perhaps what I like best about cheek color is how a hint of pink on my cheekbones, on my chin, and at the temples makes it appear as if I actually had some kind of bone structure!

Cheek color comes in several forms. The most common types are blush and rouge. Blush is a colored powder you brush on with a makeup brush, and rouge is a cream - usually packaged in a small pot - that is applied with your fingers or a makeup sponge. Other forms of cheek color are translucent gel (packaged in a tube); swivel-up cheek color sticks; and liquid cheek color, which looks like colored water and creates a budge-proof translucent stain on your skin.

What type of cheek color should you use? The drier your skin, the creamier your makeup should be - rouge and swivel-up cheek color sticks are great for dry complexions. Gel and liquid cheek color are terriftc for normal skin. Brush-on blush - which can be used successfully on all skin types - is a must for oily skin, and will help reduce shine on the complexion.

Achieving effects with highlighting cream

Highlighting cream - also called highlighter - is a makeup-bag extra, something that's nice to have but not necessary. This pale, slightly pearlescent cream catches the light, making a feature appear more prominent. When I use highlighting cream - usually for a night out - I pat a minute amount under my brow bone, on the tops of my cheekbones, and on my jawbone. The result is not at all obvious, but very, very pretty.

Highlighting cream is available in shades with a pink, peach, silver, pale yellow, gold, or copper undertone. It is most often packaged in a small pot, but you can find it in swivel-up sticks, as powder, with a wand applicator, or as a liquid. If you like, you can use a pure white coverup stick as a kind of makeshift highlighter - you won't get the light-catching gleam of a highlighter, but the pale color can make features look more prominent.

Using bronzer

Bronzer is used to give skin a tanned look - and it is a much safer option than sunbathing. Its color is a close approximation to bronze, such as deep tan, red-brown, or golden tan. I am not a big bronzer user, but I have friends who love the sun-splashed glow it gives cheeks, temples, chins, and other areas. Bronzer looks like blush and is applied in exactly the same way. It is available in powder, cream, gel, and bead forms

Contouring secrets

During the 1970s, contouring was popular - at that time, nearly all powder blushes were accompanied by a deep shade that was meant to be applied to the hollow of the cheeks. While light colors bring features forward, dark colors make features recede, therefore a bit of contour could slim chubby cheeks, as well as soften the look of a there double chin or make the sides of a person's nose look slimmer. Outside of a few swivel­ up contour sticks, I haven't seen many contouring products on the market lately. That doesn't mean, however, that contouring doesn t exist. Many makeup artists simply use a darker-than-skin shade of foundation or coverup as a face contour. The secret to natural-looking contour is to use a product that is only one or two shades darker than the skin and to apply it with a light hand.

Glitter - either packaged loose in pots or suspended in transparent gel - is a trendy and fun way to draw attention to cheekbones, eyelids, browbones, or lips. Just be sure to use it very sparingly.
