I was wondering what all type of brushes does one need for makeup? I'm only using a concealer, a bronzer, gel/cream eyeliner, mascara (sometimes), and eyeshadow.
Brushes you should use
Concealer brush - it give you more control and less harsh than your fingertips.
powder brush - It should be soft full and rounded. This is used for your bronzer (can use for foundation and blush aswell)
Eyeliner brush - This shouldn't be to thick and should narrow to a point. It is easier to apply a nice line right at the lash line.
Eyelash brush - This is like a miniture comb, for your eyelashes. Most of the time it comes with dual with an eyebrow brush (ment to sweep your eyebrows into place more) I advise you to brush your eyelashes before you apply mascara and then after to avoid clumping.
eyeshadow
You can use the eyeshadow brush that they usually give you with eye shadow to apply a one colour to the mobil part of your eye.
Use a blending brush for when you apply more than one colour so the colours blend into each other.
And if you put eyeshadow in the crease of your eye you can use the blending brush or get a crease brush ( cone shaped)

Contour brush - is angled for shading under cheek bone
Small fluff brush - add shimmer over flat shadow
lip brush - its for your lipstick for a smoother finish. This brush is squared. use a synthetic one to product applies easier, and so you don't have brush hairs stuck on your lips.
Blush brush - short handle for more control, Use to apply product only to cheeks. this brush should be soft.

Has anyone found that you have way more make up than you really need but you always find yourself always wanting to buy more? I see people who has this huge collection of make up products and it still doesn't seem to be enough. I find myself getting a lot of eyeshadow colors and make up brushes. Why do girls have soo many lipsticks when we hardly even went through one tube? Do you find yourself having a lot of old make up you never use? Is collecting makeup a hobby? I have sooo many that'll it'll probably last me a lifetime. So why do we like to collect soo much make up?
I'm with you on this, sister! I have so much make-up yet I get excited when I see new colors or new products. I justify it to myself by saying that I will use these colors and/or items on clients (I'm a make-up artist) but the reality is that I just like to have them to play with. Plus, I always LOVE being that artist who has "just the thing" or that one color that will set things apart.
I'm the same way with nail polish too.... I have a million different colors but I always want to get new ones!
LOL We like to have options; I know that if I want to have dark, smoky eyes I like to have everything I need. If I want fresh, dewey looks, I'll have all of the colors/products I need/want.

Hello. I was searching the web for makeup brushes that don't cost an arm and a leg and can be conveniently bought at a local store and I came across Paris Presents ecoTOOLS. Has anyone tried them? If so, what do you think of them? Are they soft? Do they shed? Are they durable? And so on.
Yah, i got some at my local walgreens and they are really nice quality. Super soft and no shedding yet!
I saw them in People Stylewatch too. I thikn these are going to be a hit... i'm loving all the eco stuff!

Hello, I am trying to figure out how to buy good quality makeup brushes that won't fall apart and will leave a flawless finish on my make up. How do I choose the right brush? Is there a trick to know quality vs. crap? Also, I want natural brushes, not synthetic. Is Goat hair better than Sable? What's the best hair to use? Thank you for putting up with all my questions!
I would have to say hands down the MAC brushes are the best, they are mostly made of goat hair, and are so soft, and puts on the makeup really well. They aren't exactly the cheapest, but you are definitely getting what you pay for, and in the long run its a good deal.
Basically, to know if a brush is really good and sturdy, its pretty obvious. Wet N Wild brush? Not so much. Maybelline? The brushes are okay. MAC/other more high end brands? Great.
You can also search up reviews on YouTube of the brushes. And to answer your question, goat hair is probably the best
