Court call: Sterling armed robbery case set for trial Tuesday
A 24-year-old Sterling man charged with attacking and robbing a pizza delivery man in late October is set for a jury trial Tuesday. Ian Vanstockum is charged with armed robbery, punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison, and aggravated battery, punishable by 2 to 5 years in prison.

How to set up a monetary fund for witnesses to come forward in a criminal case?
My friend was attacked with a baseball bat for no apparent reason. Robbery was not the motive. I want to set up a cash reward for any witness that leads the cops to the criminal. How do I do this? Also, how much money would make it worthwhile for witnesses to come forward and talk?
You most definetly want to talk to the DA or prosecutor about this, maybe even a criminal lawyer you may know. By doing that the person's defense lawyer may be able to raise the speculation in court that the "witnesses" are being paid to testify against his/her client, which would then raise an admissibility issue as to their testimony. And if the subject of a "reward" so to speak is come up in Court the Judge may even dismiss the case due to credibility issues of the witnesses, as they are being "paid" in a way.
