The day I decided to stop being gay
A minor incident in a barber’s shop last week has helped me to realise that I may no longer be gay. Not a fully fledged homo, anyway; perhaps not even a part-timer who helps the team out when it’s busy. It appears I may be going straight.

Who came up with the notion that women are good at "multi-tasking"? Do you agree that they are or not?
Do you find it annoying when women parrot this phrase all the time?
Yeah I've heard of this bogus story before. This goes to show that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The fact of the matter is that the media sometimes distorts the findings of research or distorts what the researchers actually said about the research in order to obtain a jaw-dropping story. This is probably one of those cases. Any neuropsychologist worth his/her salt wouldn't jump to the illogical conclusion that women are better than men at multitasking simply because of some brain difference. It could be a learned behavior as well. The corpus callosum was mentioned here I see as being evidence for this but there again it is a stretch to start inferring brain functions from a few experiments. I also would note that men's left prefrontal cortex tends to be bigger than women's. So using the same logic are we to assume that men are more logical/rational than their female counterparts? I also don't see where multitasking is a good thing. Cognitive psychologists would say that the mind has only limited cognitive resources to delegate to different tasks. The tasks that one usually does in multitasking might not require that much 'brain power' as other tasks such as math problems or logical problems. So it could be the case that women spend a lot of time delegating mental power to a bunch of tasks that require very little effort when compared to other tasks that require more concentration. Because of this they might have more practice at relatively remedial tasks than do men and so would be better at them. I would be interested to see how multitasking interferes with other higher cognitive efforts. It probably affects it quite a bit. Can women do seven calculus problems simultaneously, get them all right whilst feeding a child and talking on the phone to friends? It is highly doubtful that any human being could do such a task well regardless of their perceived 'brain advantages'.
