HELP! can you use a cream liner as a shadow base?

Like coastal scents cream liners? or any cream liners... could i use them as a shadow base like shadesticks, NYX lip and eye sticks, or mac paint pots etc?

I saw someone on youtube do it but I'm not sure if it will work for all of them
