Whether we realize it or not, God has prepared wonderful things for us but we have to be open and available to receive ALL that life has purposed for us. Unfortunately, most of us limit our possibilities because we confine ourselves to only those things inside our "box," or our comfort zone.
We all have areas in our lives in which we operate from inside a "box". Some of us were raised inside boxes that as we matured, we simply never discarded-- even when they no longer were comfortable or fit our current goals.
One of the boxes I was raised in was the, "get a good job with benefits" box. My parents had absolutely no understanding of entrepreneurship. Their mantra was "get a good job with benefits." That's what they knew; that was their box; and that is what they passed on to me. So starting my own business-or simply consulting-- was way outside my comfort zone.
However, one day-after being unemployed longer than I anticipated-I had to gather the courage to take a peek outside my box and consider entrepreneurship. I'll be honest with you, starting my own business required massive stretching of my thinking. It was hard for me to change some of those ingrained philosophies I'd been brought up with. As I took my first steps down the road to building my own business, there wasn't a day that went by where I didn't want to run back to the "paycheck;" because being an employee was what I knew-- it was inside my comfort zone.
Reaching for things outside our box is uncomfortable, if not down right scary. I feared entrepreneurship, but I also understood that staying inside my "good job with benefits" box would keep me limited. I knew that eventually that cramped space would leave me frustrated and depressed.
Stretching outside our comfort zone is hard, but the reality is that living a life unfulfilled isn't any easier.
So my questions for you today are: "What box are you living in?"
Are you inside a racial box? Is there anyone in your cell phone that doesn't look like you?
Are you inside a parenting box? Is your philosophy for how you are raising your children based on beliefs that were passed down to you; but that if you are honest-when you were growing up--you hated and that didn't really nourish you?
Are you inside a routine box? When was the last time you tried a new restaurant; made a new friend; cooked something different?
What box are you operating out of, that no longer fits the elements of who you want to be or where you want to go?
If you're living inside a cardboard structure that is limiting you, make a commitment today to get outside your box and learn something new; something that requires you to stretch beyond your comfort zone; something that challenges you and the philosophies you inherited, but that will ultimately move you closer to becoming the person you'd like to be, or living the life you'd love to live.
Take a class; read a book; talk to some folk who you may not know well-if at all--but who are doing some of the things that you'd like to do. Ask questions; expose yourself because exposure helps eliminate fear; and it is fear that keeps you inside your box.
If you aren't venturing outside your box to do something that you know you need to do, to be the person you want to be or to get to where you want to go; then fear is at the root of your inaction. Yes, you with your "bad" self are afraid of something-failure, success, embarrassment, looking stupid, not being good enough...I don't know what it is-for you-- but I can tell you that exposure helps eliminate fear.
Do a little soul searching and investigate the root of your inaction-deal with whatever it is that you secretly fear. Then step boldly outside your "box," so that you can receive all that is purposed for you and live a life unlimited!

Anyone have any suggestions for a light perfume?
The older I get (40), the more sensitve to certain perfumes I get. I love amazing grace by philosophy, but I wanted something new and different. I don't like strong floral smells.

Born Pierre-Alexandre-Claudius Balmain in St. Jean de Maurienne in 1914. Pierre Balmain started his creation in 1945. His early training started with Molyneux and Lucien Lelong, this lead to the opening of his own Haute Couture house following the war in autumn 1945. He also created one of his best-selling perfumes called, Vent Vent in 1947 with Jolie Madame from 1953, and Ivoire in 1979. Pierre was known for sophistication and elegance and always was found quoted saying, “dressmaking is the architecture of movement”, thus making his mission, which was to beautify the world - like an architect.
He studied architecture at the Ecole Nationale Supèrieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1933 - 1934. Balmain did military service in the French Air Force and the French Army Pioneer Corps - from 1936 - 1940. Today the name Pierre Balmain radiates a unique concept of elegance, a clientele ranging from royalty being the Duchess of Windsor, the Queen of Belgium to many movie stars of the 1950’s and a familiar link throughout the world. It was written that “A dress is to once more become a thing of beauty, to express elegance and grace.” It was Pierre Balmain’s belief that “nothing is more important in a dress than its construction”. His belief in creation of dresses was that ornamentation was for the sake of making a garment amazing and at one time offended the US press saying that Seventh Avenue fashion was “vulgar”.
BalmainsÂ’ believed that fashion should be cherished in an elegant appearance and should posses a sophisticated style. Simplicity was what Balmain strived for and always kept to the basic principals of fashion in the sense that one will always be in accord with the latest fashion trends without falling prey to them. His basic daywear was slim and eveningwear was being full-skirted. Trim was used all the way through his creations and he will always be remembered for his delicate use of embroidered fabrics for evening wear.
After his death on the 29th June 1982, the Pierre Balmain range was passed to his personal assistant since 1951 and closest collaborator Erik Mortensen. Erik made sure that the Balmain house traditions were been updated in style and design.

Does anyone have similar philosophy beliefs to Iris Murdoch?
I really fell in love with her work and did my final end of year exam on her work.
Does anyone else know of her philosophy?
I'm find myself agreeeing with a lot of Murdoch's philosophical thought.
Murdoch herself was somewhat of a philosophical anachronism. A twentieth-century philosopher, she eschewed postmodernism and moral relativism. She didn't believe, a la Foucault, that power, truth, and goodness were "social constructs." She thought they were things that could be found in nature, and that moral goodness was something that could be cultivated.
Like another intelligent poster said, she is mainly noted for her Platonic sympathies.

I really love Mary Kate and Ashley Coast to Coast perfume, but I was wondering if anyone has seen that fragrance in a lotion or shower gel? I did google it, but only saw the perfumes. It's a very beautiful fragrance, you should sample it sometime:) I believe it's beach honeysuckle. Thanks!
